Robert Antoine Pinchon was born in Rouen in 1886 and died in Bois-Guillaume in 1943. Son of the librarian and critic Robert Pinchon, he grew up in a literary environment close to Guy de Maupassant. Very young, he painted the quays and surroundings of Rouen; at nineteen, the Rouen Museum of Fine Arts already dedicated an exhibition to him. His meeting with Albert Lebourg, Camille Pissarro and especially Claude Monet already devoted an exhibition to him. However, Pinchon did not remain in the impressionist wake alone. He participated in the founding of the Groupe des Trente in 1907 and then, with Dumont, in the Norman Society of Modern Painting.
