The city is painted like a panoramic landscape, without a central event, under an immense and luminous sky.

Look at the work

The movement of the quay forms a frieze under the clear panorama of the left bank

The foreground is occupied by the roadway and its numerous figures. Black cars, brown horses, groups of passers-by and kiosks are distributed without ceremonial order. The row of golden trees separates this agitation from the Seine.

Beyond the river, the buildings form a long irregular line. A large red sign catches the eye on the left; the Pantheon rises near the center, surrounded by bell towers and chimneys. The pale blue sky, strewn with white clouds, occupies more than half of the canvas.

Paris is not reduced to a monument: traffic, trees, facades and the sky share the same importance in the daily spectacle.
