Understanding the Bangkok scene

A capital where Thai heritage and regional creation meet

Bangkok's art scene does not occupy a single center. Around Siam, institutions, universities and foundations are easy to visit; the old town places current art in the history of the kingdom. Along Charoen Krung and the river, international galleries, design and industrial renovations form a dense Creative District. Silom, Sathorn, Sukhumvit and Khlong Toei complete this geography with independent spaces and private collections.

01

Start with Siam

The BACC, Jim Thompson Art Center, JWD and Chulalongkorn offer a compact introduction to contemporary Thai and regional art.

02

Follow the river

River City, ATT 19, Warehouse 30, TCDC and the alleys of Talat Noi combine exhibitions, design, architecture and industrial heritage.

03

Check schedules

In Bangkok, many galleries close on Mondays or open by appointment. Consult the linked sheet before each trip.

Reliable sources, advice and related reading

Are art galleries in Bangkok free?

Private galleries, the BACC and several public centers are generally free. Museums and immersive exhibitions charge their own prices.

Which neighborhood to choose for a first visit?

Siam is the easiest area by transport: connect the BACC, Jim Thompson Art Center, JWD and Chulalongkorn, then dedicate another half day to Charoen Krung.

How to move between galleries?

Use BTS and MRT for Siam, Silom and Sukhumvit, then boat or taxi to the river. Distances and heat often make walking trips longer than they seem.

How to have a painting delivered outside France?

Our collection of original paintings for sale includes support on packaging, insurance and international delivery.
