The Pola Museum of Art brings together in Hakone a remarkable ensemble of Monet, Cézanne, Renoir and Matisse in an architecture open to the forest.

Opened in 2002 in the Hakone region, the Pola Museum of Art combines modern collection, architecture and natural environment. Its Western ensembles give an important place to impressionism and its extensions. Monet observe Rouen Cathedral, the Portal as a changing surface where stone, shadow and light recompose themselves. The tracks at the exit of Saint-Lazare station transform smoke, rails and industrial architecture into a modern atmosphere. At sunset in Étretat, the cliff becomes a dark mass surrounded by colorful light.
