Bartolomeo Carducci, called Bartolomé Carducho in Spain, was born in Florence around 1560 and died in Madrid in 1608. Trained with Bartolomeo Ammannati then Federico Zuccaro, he arrived in Spain to participate in the decor of the Escorial. He then became one of the founders of the Madrid school and an essential intermediary between late Italian culture and emerging Spanish naturalism.
