Born in Bologna in 1557, Agostino Carracci is the older brother of Annibale and the cousin of Ludovico. An excellent engraver, he translated Raphael, Titian, Veronese and Correggio, participating in the circulation of models throughout Europe. With his family, he hosted the Accademia degli Incamminati, where the study of the living model corrected the artifices of mannerism.
