Jean Changenet, often named Jean II Changenet to distinguish him from his father, belongs to a dynasty of painters linked to Dijon. He founded a powerful workshop in Avignon shortly after 1480 and was documented there from 1485 until his death at the beginning of 1495. The variety of his commissions and the number of his collaborators show that he occupied a major place between the generation of Nicolas Froment and that of Nicolas Dipre.
