Nicknamed "Michelangelo delle Battaglie", he first trained with painters specializing in combat, then became closer to Pieter van Laer and the bamboccianti movement, devoted to scenes of popular life. His presence at the Academy of Saint-Luc is attested as early as 1634 and his works appear in the collections of Cardinals Flavio Chigi and Bernardino Spada. He also practiced landscape and still life, collaborating with Angeluccio for figures and with architectural specialists.
