The Birmingham Museum of Art was founded in 1951 after several decades of efforts by the Birmingham Art Club and the city. First installed at City Hall, he moved in 1959 to a permanent building designed by Warren, Knight and Davis. Successive expansions and then a renovation completed in 1993 brought the whole to approximately one hundred and eighty thousand square feet, including the sculpture garden.
