Stormy skies, moving waters and tormented trees make Paul Huet a pioneer of the French romantic landscape.

Paul Huet was born in Paris in 1803 and died there in 1869. Trained with Pierre-Narcisse Guérin and Antoine-Jean Gros, he quickly turned away from the great historical subject for landscape. The discovery of Constable and Bonington encouraged him to directly observe the sky, humidity, trees and atmospheric changes. Friend of Delacroix, Huet shared with the romantics a taste for nature as an expressive force.
