Spinello di Luca, known as Spinello Aretino, was born in Arezzo around the middle of the 14th century and died there around 1410 or 1411. Active in several towns in Tuscany, he worked in Arezzo, Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Siena, on monumental frescoes as on panels intended for altars and processional banners. His language unites the spatial solidity inherited from Giotto with the color, linear elegance and narrative taste of Sienese painting.
