Look at the work

A golden gap separates the house from a wall of dark rose bushes

The house is only visible in fragments: a few turquoise verticals, brick red touches and the slope of a roof. In front of it, the stems and flowers form a screen. The large yellow passage in the center does not describe a precise sky; it acts as a reserve of light between two plant masses.

On the right, the foliage closes in deep green, purple and burgundy. The bottom of the canvas mixes the orange path with the red massifs without clear separation. The thick layers, the covers and the touch directions give the garden a physical relief that reproduction must preserve.

The pattern remains identifiable, but the house, the driveway and the plants are no longer separate objects: they become three densities of color that fit together.

The legacy of Michel Monet
