The curved figure occupies the lower center of the landscape. The pieces of linen draw a clear tablecloth at his feet; a basket stands on the left, another on the right, forming a large triangle around the body.
The embankment and the edge close the horizon in superimposed bands. Van Gogh contrasts the deep greens of the trees with the yellows of the meadow and the bluish notes of the clothing, without abandoning Nuenen's earthy range.
