The cliff juts out from the right as the sea and sky meet in an almost white morning light

The coastal profile starts high in the right corner then descends in stages towards the center. The rocks and vegetation are built in small touches of pink, purple, green and ocher. No dark lines close their silhouette.

The left opening appears empty at first, but contains fine variations of blue, pink and cream. The horizontal gestures of the sea remain distinct from the more flexible cloudy passages. The horizon can be guessed without becoming a rigid separation.

Morning reduces the landscape to a few essential relationships: the colorful weight of the cliff, the pale expanse of the sea and the air that connects them.

The sea and the sky share very similar values. Strengthening their limit would destroy the morning atmosphere and reduce the luminous depth sought by Monet.
