Built by Victor Laloux for the Universal Exhibition of 1900, the Orsay station connected Paris to the southwest of France before its too short platforms gradually made it obsolete. Saved from demolition, she is transformed by ACT Architecture and Gae Aulenti into a museum dedicated to Western arts from 1848 to 1914. Inaugurated in December 1986, Orsay brings together collections from the Louvre, the Jeu de Paume and the National Museum of Modern Art, then the enriched by purchases, donations, legacies and donations.
