The meadow, the figures and the village are captured in the same surge of spring light

The large expanse of grass takes up almost half of the painting. The characters are not arranged in a frieze: some stay near the trees, others move away towards the houses, and the central group advances slightly towards the viewer. This dispersion animates the depth without transforming the landscape into a narrative scene.

Two thin trees cross the sky in the center left. Their emerging foliage, indicated by small touches of yellow and green, still reveals blue. The houses are built with very light whites, pinks and purples; the bell tower provides the only compact vertical accent in this almost air-dissolved village.

Monet does not separate the subject from its atmosphere: figures, trees and walls appear with the same brief touch that makes the spring day vibrate.

Its blues, whites and roses are placed in wide passages. This luminous opening lightens the houses and brings out the young branches, whose transparency is an essential sign of the season.
